To coin the well worn saying, ‘you’d have to be living under a rock’ not to know that a Federal Government election is fast approaching and if you can believe the media, May 11 or 18 is either of the days we will all be trekking off to the polls.

If you can also believe our politicians, and on this occasion, I’d have to say they are right, small business is thelifeblood and backbone of the economy, so surely, our legislators should be invested in developing and refining policies that make it easier to trade.

Unfortunately though, unless you a member of a industry peak body who can have an affiliation with the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia, the entity with the ear of Government, the voice of individual businesses is not often heard.

As a small business ourselves, we know that having decision makers listen to your point of view is not always straightforward and can take considerable time, a precious commodity most of us simply don’t have to spare.

So rather than capitulating to the system, we will be sending our concerns and frustrations directly to both the Federal Government and Opposition, along with the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman.

To cite but one example of the frustrations we experience is the lack of regulation in the information technology sector, in order to prevent shonky operators from setting up shop and offering their services to business without qualifications, experience or software certification from reputable providers, and that’s just the start.

Frequently, we find ourselves correcting the mistakes of shonks for our new clients who have been so let down and had their data put at risk, given poor advice and asked to pay inflated prices for promised results that could never be delivered.

If you too experience frustrations beyond your control, which may include everything from access to Government funding, late payment of accounts or unnecessary compliance requirements, your most welcome to add your voice to ours by completing the short form below.

You can provide as much or as little detail as you wish, whilst remaining anonymous if you prefer.

At every step of the way, we will keep you informed of our actions and of course, any response we receive.

From history, we know that there is strength in numbers.
